I had the greastest opportunity to work with Mrs. Shannon at FCS. She taught one of my sonc there also. I will always remember her friendlyness and her hard working. Rest in peace, Vernelle.

Hi Dr. Shannon,
My mother, Lois, wanted me to express her sympathies and condolences for your loss. She'll miss having a visit with Vernelle when she gets to Houghton next.

Mrs. Shannon was my third grade teacher. I don't have much memory of the class other than small desks and chalk boards. I am sure she taught us our mulitplication and division tables and how to write cursive. I just remember later in life as we graduated high school, and then about five years ago at the Houghton Rehabilitation Center where her husband took care of her. Hats off to all those dedicated teachers who give their best years to us children. Thanks and God Bless you Mrs.Shannon

We are among those hundreds who enjoyed the warmth of Vernelle's gracious hospitality. She made an amazing pecan pie! We loved chatting with her and appreciated her straightforward personality. She will be missed so much. Our prayers are with you, Fred, and with Dale and Robynn and all who loved Vernelle.

Sorry to hear this, Mrs. Shannon was one of my favorite teacher's. Not only did she try to teach this left hander to write, but I'm sure she taught me how to act as a young lady and not a Tom boy! Praying for all her love one's to feel God's comfort.
