Rochester---Laura C. McNiel of Rochester, died May 17, 2016 in her home. She was born on May 31, 1963 in Warsaw, a daughter of the late Harold and Carol Laity McNiel.


Laura was a 1981 graduate of Fillmore Central School and received her bachelor’s degree from Houghton College. She was a social worker.


Surviving are her sisters and brother, Julie (Dan) McCollister of Ithaca, Sue McNiel of Fillmore, Edith McNiel (Tom Kreuzer) of Buffalo, Richard (Sharon) McNiel of Rochester, Marian (Bill) McNiel Simms of Rochester and one niece and three nephews.


Family and friends may gather from 1:00 to 3:00 on Saturday May 21, 2016 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home 21 North Genesee Street, Fillmore. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Houghton.

Dear McNiel Family,
I'm very sad to hear of Laura's passing. We were in school together. I sat with her at your mom's funeral dinner and am so glad we had a chance to visit.
May God comfort you in the loss of your dear sister.

Dear family,
I am so deeply sorry for your loss of Laura. I have such wonderful memories of Laura in my art classes at Fillmore Central. She was such a talented young lady with a wonderful warm personality.
