Keith Emerson Cromwell

Olean---Keith Emerson Cromwell of 4192A Bolivar Road left his torn and pain riddled body to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 14, 2014 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville. He was born on July 18, 1933 at home on Rattlesnake Hill in Barkertown, a son of the late William and Ruby Wambold Cromwell.  He married Rachel B. Hamilton (who was his one and only love from the age of 12) who predeceased him on October 31, 2009.

He attended Cuba School where he exceled at Industrial Arts and played on the Ping Pong team. He attended Roberts Wesleyan College and transferred to Houghton College, where he graduated with his Bachelors in Education. He served as a Medic in the Armed Forces.  He began teaching at the Corfu School, which later grew to become part of the Pembroke Central School. While teaching he attended Conesus College to receive his Master’s Degree. In addition to teaching History, he ran the Audio Visual department at the high school. With his self- proclaimed Audio Visual “sweat hogs” he was instrumental in building sets and working the sound and light systems for several high school musicals. He loved his students and they loved him back. His door and heart was always open for them. His biggest passion were the people in his life.

Surviving are his daughter Gwendolyn Ladd of Olean, four grandchildren Heidi Regan (Gabe) Iturbides, Sean Stamp (fiancé Kerry Cook), Dustin Ladd, Adrienne Stamp (Ira) Nicodemus, and one great granddaughter Ruby Iturbides, a son-in-law Michael Stamp of Corfu, two brothers Lee (Kay) Cromwell of Hilton, Merle (Mary Lou) Cromwell of Godfrey, IL, one sister Margaret Cromwell (Wayne) Bovee of Flint, Michigan, and several nieces, nephews and their spouses and children.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, his precious daughter, Deborah Cromwell Stamp, three brothers Gerald, Ralph and Gordon, a sister Arlene Cromwell Banks and two sisters-in-law Jean Ross Cromwell and Carol Smith Cromwell.

Keith was also a self-employed contractor who built many homes and churches. He attended Akron and Belfast Free Methodist churches, but most recently attended church at Creekside Chapel in Allegany, New York where a memorial will be held March 15, 2014 at 3:00 pm. Memorials may be made to any one of these three churches.
