Centerville --- Jesse V. Roberts of 10925 Fairview Road went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in his home. He was born on July 4, 1930, in Centerville, a son of the late Earl and Minnie Walradt Roberts. On October 25, 1952, in the Pike Presbyterian Church he married Janice Buckley who survives.
Jesse was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1955 to 1957, a graduate of Alfred Tech and a former construction worker.
He was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church, 32nd Degree Free Mason with the Arcade Lodge 419, member of the Buffalo Consistory and a member of the NYS Steam Engine Association.
Jesse enjoyed building and fixing things and it was extremely important that his projects were left better than they were found, which included working on clocks, wood working, John Deere tractors and his steam machinery, especially his steam roller.
Surviving in addition to his wife are their sons, Lyne J. (Donna) Roberts of Michigan, Craig A. (Lynada) Roberts of Wyoming, six grandchildren, Amy Johnson-Roberts, Natasha (Derek) Watson, Katherine Johnson-Roberts, Ashley Graham, Andrea (Scott) Stanbro, Cody Roberts, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Victor Roberts and a sister, Janet Burgess.
Family and friends may gather from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Centerville United Methodist Church where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Pastor Bob Schooley will officiate. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery, Freedom.
