Fillmore--- Darus “Whitey” Heap, a former resident of Fillmore, died Friday, August 21, 2015 in Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital, Buffalo. He was born on May 13, 1929 in West Clarksville, a son of the late Clifford and Albertina Higby Heap. On January 10, 1954 in Olean he married Doris Dailey who predeceased him on March 12, 2013.
Whitey served in the Army from 1950 thru 1953. He worked at Lapp Insulator in Leroy and later at Walmart in Warsaw. He also owned and operated Whitey’s Gun Shop for several years. He loved to hunt, fish and ride motorcycles.
Surviving are two sons, Clifford Heap of Perry, Arthur Heap of Jamestown, a daughter, Doreen Dexter of Jamestown, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may gather at Kopler-Williams Funeral Home 21 N. Genesee Street, Fillmore, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. on Monday August 24, 2015. A graveside service will follow immediately at Alger Cemetery with Joel Stroud, pastor of the Hume Baptist Church officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 1155 of Fillmore.
