Birdsall---Lillian P. Carpenter of 8940 Co. Rd. 16 died Friday, May 13, 2016 in the Absolut at Houghton Nursing Home. She was born on July 31, 1923 in the Town of Allen, a daughter of the late Leon and Florence VanGuilder James. She married Gerald C. Carpenter who predeceased her on September 19, 2004.
She was a former member of the Canaseraga Women’s American Legion Auxiliary, the Birdsall Vol. Fire Co and the former Birdsall Town Clerk.
Lillian loved to play bingo, gardening and reading.
Surviving are her children, David (Nancy) Carpenter of Fillmore, Rodney (Lisa) Carpenter of Birdsall, Daniel (Theresa) Carpenter of Canaseraga, Carol Carpenter of Wellsville, 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two sisters, Marleah Ritter, Evelyn Hale, a sister in law, Roberta ‟Bertie” James and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Carl Carpenter, six brothers, Francis ‟Dutch” James, Merlin ‟Tony” James, Hollis ‟Bill” James, Alvin ‟Mike” James, Kenneth James, Justin Earl ‟Jess” James and a special nephews, Roger James.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 am in Short Tract Cemetery. Bill Lawson, Pastor of the Fillmore Wesleyan Church will officiate.
