Castile---Roberta G. James of 6775 East Lake Road died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 in the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born on December 28, 1921 in Fillmore, a daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth Barney Damon. On October 12, 1940 in Portville, she married Hollis “Bill” James who predeceased her on January 8, 2011.
Mrs. James was a former employee of Letchworth State Park, a former member of the Silver Lake Association and the Short Tract United Methodist Church. She enjoyed needle work and crossword puzzles.
Surviving are her children, Marcia (Jack) Wilcox of Fillmore, Donald (Sandra) James of Perry, Lisa (David) Granger of Silver Springs, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, her siblings, Gwenevere (Dale) Russell of N. Collins, Delwin (Lee) Damon of Albany, Deo (Sue) Damon of Dalton, a sister-in-law, Elaine Damon of Cuba and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a daughter, Vonda Burrows, a granddaughter, Beth Ann Hippley, a sister, Muriel Aylor, a brother, DeMerle Damon and a brother in law Ernie Aylor.
Family and friends may gather from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 North Genesee Street, Fillmore, where funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. Rev. Bruce Smith, pastor of the Higgins Wesleyan Church, will officiate and burial will be in the Short Tract Cemetery.
