Rodney Carpenter Obituary

 

Birdsall --- Rodney K. Carpenter of 3409 Gillies Hill Road, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. He was born on January 20, 1952 in Cuba, a son of the late Gerald and Lillian James Carpenter. He was married to Lisa Flegal for 44 years who survives.
 
Rodney was a United States Navy veteran serving from 1972 to 1976, a graduate of Riverside School of Aeronautics in Utica and a former group leader mechanic for Alstom Transportation in Hornell. He was also a member of the Canaseraga American Legion Post 1582.
 
He loved wood working, tinkering and was an all-around handyman. Rodney enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, drawing specs and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He was a kind, laid back, easy going intelligent man.
 
Surviving in addition to his wife are James (Beth) Herring of Perry, Jason Carpenter of Birdsall, four grandchildren, a brother, David (Nancy) Carpenter of Fillmore, a sister Carol Carpenter of Wellsville, a sister-in-law, Theresa Carpenter of Canaseraga and several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel Carpenter and Carl Carpenter.
 
A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Short Tract Cemetery. Bill Lawson, pastor of the Fillmore Wesleyan Church, will officiate.
