Machias --- Rev. Roger James White of 3204 Hazelmare Ave. died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in West Pennsylvania Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on June 27, 1950 in Oneonta, a son of the late Floyd and Nina Spaford White. On July 17, 1971 in Dennison Corners he married Mary Ann McCoy who survives.
Roger pastored in several churches beginning with two churches in Maine with the A.M.O.C. He then moved to Rushford in 1983 and pastored at the Rushford Baptist Church until 1993 when he became director of the Odosagih Bible Conference in Machias.
Roger’s first love was Jesus, to whom he was a lifelong witness, his wife, his girls, son-in-laws and his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are their daughters, Esther (Michael) Clark of Houghton, Rachael (Dale) Sampson of Elizabeth Town, PA, Sarah Herr of Marcellus, a son-in-law, Raymond Herr of Washington, DC, 11 grandchildren, a brother, Joseph (Betty) White of Ontario, three sisters, Sherryl (Steve) Banins of Otego, Nancy White of Oneonta, Esther Warden of W. Oneonta and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Paul White.
Family and friends may gather from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 and from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Central Baptist Church, 12045 Old Olean Road, Yorkshire, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2015. Pastors Mark Chamberlain and Ben Phillips will co-officiate and burial will be in Dennison Corners Cemetery, Mohawk, at a later date.
