Houghton---Shirley Carey of 9900 Luckey Drive went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in his home. He was born on December 23, 1926 in Columbia, Pa. He married Mary Harris who survives.
Mr. Carey was an Army Veteran of WWII having served with the occupation forces. He was a former security guard in Ithaca.
He was a member of the Rushford United Methodist Church and was also a puppeteer, accomplished musician and singer, chef and hair dresser.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Tamara C. Plummer of Atlanta, Georgia, Beverly L. Carey of Houghton, a son, Thomas A. Carey of Wellsville, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Family and friends may gather at the Rushford United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm where funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm. Larry Russell pastor and Bob Schooley, former pastor will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Houghton.
