Sophia M. (Hackett) Stevens

Short Tract --- Sophia M. Stevens of 5312 Sonnleitner Road died Friday, May 27, 2016 in Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born on June 17, 1922 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Gerstung Hackett. She married Jay W. Stevens who survives.

Sophia loved music and was the organist, and later the pianist, at the Short Tact United Methodist Church for 40 years. She was also involved with the Short Tract Town Theater and taught piano for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Short Tract United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Yvonne Swimline, Dawn (Bob) Bennett, Randall Mueckl, all of Short Tract, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister Rose Marie Hackett. Her daughter in law, Brenda L. Mueckl, passed away the same day.

Family and friends may gather from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee Street, Fillmore. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in the Short Tract United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Gary Wickard will officiate. Burial will be in Short Tract Cemetery, Short Tract.
