Alvis Edward O'Connor Jr.

Pike --- Alvis Edward O’Connor Jr. of Pike passed away on May 14, 2025, after a brief illness in Buffalo VA Medical Center surrounded by his beloved wife and daughters. He was born on February 21, 1955, in Warsaw, a son of the late Alvis and Velma Buckley O’Connor Sr. On January 29, 1988, in the Fillmore United Methodist Church he married Tamara Smith who he loved with all of his heart.

The following poem is written by his wife and best describes Alvis and how he lived:

“Good Man”

Strong stubborn humble and kind

Giving from the heart no matter the time

Loving his family, his daughters, his pride

Grandchildren all the Apple of his eye.

His hands always busy are now at rest

The fixer man fixed and gave all his best.

Alvis was a graduate of Letchworth Central School and a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1972 until 1975. After serving in the Navy, he was employed by the Town of Pike Highway Department. He was a member of the Hunt Stout American Legion Post 1670 and the VFW Post 5009.

He enjoyed going to horse pulls, spending time in his shop, cooking, wood working, cutting wood, baking pies, hunting and fishing when able but most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife are their daughters, Jazmin (Wayne) Locke of Henrietta, Jennifer (Chris) Armison of Centerville, his grandchildren, Connor, Fiona, Caidence, Isabelle, Trina, his siblings, Lori (Robert Farnsworth) Christ of Pike, Christine (David) Emke of Batavia and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Harold O’Connor, Robert O’Connor and three sisters, Rosemary Domroes, Louann VanName and Sandy Langley.

Family and friends may gather from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Hunt Stout American Legion, 6301 Lamont Rd, Castile, NY, 14427 where Military Honors will follow at 1:00 pm. A memorial service will follow a 1:30 pm. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Pike, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials if desired to: Wounded Warrior Project, Pike Rescue Squad or the Grace House of Buffalo.
