East Koy --- Barbara Jean Greene passed away on September 22, 2026, at ECMC in Buffalo. She was 71.

Born on January 15, 1955, Barbara was a graduate of Fillmore Central School, Class of 1973, and later graduated from Olean Business Institute. She built a working life marked by dedication and versatility, serving as a secretary for several area businesses, including St. Bonaventure, Clarks, Aronson, and WCJW radio. She also worked as a waitress for several area establishments, including the Glen Iris Inn at Letchworth State Park, the vets club, The Woods at Bear Creek, and Hidden Valley Adventure restaurant. In each role, she brought her steady presence and warm spirit to the people around her.

Barb found joy in music from an early age. She loved music, played the French horn in high school, and sang in the high school choir. In her younger years, she also showed horses with her family, creating memories that remained a cherished part of her life. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and she was known for the qualities that made time with her so memorable. Barb always had old stories and plenty of jokes to share, and she loved laughter and being with friends. Her easy way, her humor, and her gift for storytelling will be remembered by the many people whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her husband, Bentley Greene, and by her daughters, Marleah Stout and Danielle McCoy. She also leaves behind her sister, Julie Frazier, two uncles, Alan (Judy) Mills, R. Craig Mills, and her special friend, Terry (Kent) Cartwright, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Thomas Irwin; her mother, Norma Jeanne Mills Irwin; and her brother, Robert Irwin.

Barbara Jean Greene will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her laughter, her stories, her love of music, and the warmth she shared so freely with friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in East Koy Cemetery, East Koy.
