Carl S. Cartwright

Hunt---Carl S. Cartwright of 9484 Short Tract Road, Town of Portage, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 in his home. He was born on Aug. 4, 1921 in the Town of Granger, a son of the late Jeffrey and Emma Hillagis Cartwright. He married Betty M. Tillinghast who predeceased him on May 22, 2001

Carl was a former construction worker for Newman Brothers Paving in Rochester. He also had his own farm. He loved to listen to WCJW Radio in Warsaw and he was a tinkerer.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan Derk of Hunt, two grandsons, Anthony Derk of Dalton, Andrew Derk of Hunt, two granddaughters, Makayla Derk and Myla Derk both of Dalton, two sisters, Lucille Cooper and Lillian Fridley both of Warsaw and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife he was predeceased by three brothers, Alfred, Gerald, Leonard and one sister, Aldine Newcomb.

Family and friends may gather from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday July 17, 2015 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home 21 N. Genesee Street, Fillmore, where funeral services will be held on Saturday July 18, 2015 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Joel Stroud, pastor of the Hume Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Short Tract Cemetery.
