Rushford --- Carl A. Cooper, of Rushford, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester with his family at his side. He was born on December 12, 1955 in Bath, a son of the late Frederick and Frances Sunderlin Cooper. He married Linda Rybat who survives.

Carl lived most of his life in Buffalo before moving to Rushford. Over the years, he built a hardworking and independent life, first as the owner and operator of his own cleaning business. He later became an electrician and, in time, worked as an over-the-road truck driver. His varied career reflected a strong work ethic and a willingness to take on new challenges.

In retirement, Carl found joy in the things that brought him peace and happiness. He enjoyed being outdoors, listening to all kinds of music, playing his many musical instruments, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his favorite westerns. These interests reflected a man who appreciated both activity and simple pleasures, and who found meaning in music, recreation, and the world around him.

Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of 37 years are his children, Karen (Charlie) Smith of Buffalo, Jacob Cooper of Buffalo. He was the proud grandfather of Jarick Roaderick and Matthew Smith, a brother to Beverly (Melvin) Martin and Janet Rosen, brother-in-law to Bill (Jenny) Rybat, Bob (Kelly) Rybat, Sharil White, uncle of Ashton, Kierstin Rybat, Eddie and Bob (Kim) Rybat and great-uncle of Logan Rhys and Cade Rybat.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son, Shawn Cooper and a brother, Wes White.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee St, Fillmore, New York. A funeral service will follow there at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Jerry Clark, pastor of the Rawson Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Elmlawn Memorial Park, 3939 Delaware Ave, Kenmore, New York.
