Carol Sue (Ellsworth) Downing Dannaher Peterson

Houghton --- Carol Sue Ellsworth Downing Dannaher Peterson, 77, of Houghton, previously of South Otselic, Vernon Center and Wells Bridge, died Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at ECMC, Buffalo.  She was born March 4, 1948, in Paterson, NJ, the daughter of Phyllis (Kalbach) and Richard Ellsworth.

Raised in New Jersey, Carol Sue graduated from Ramsey high school, Ramsey, NJ and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School, Montclair, NJ. She put her secretarial training to good use working in both business and academic positions.

Carol Sue loved traveling and visited Ireland, England, Scotland, Alaska, the Canadian Rockies, and cruised from Quebec to New York City with stops in the Maritimes and along the East Coast.

The eldest of five, Carol Sue is survived by a brother, Richard Ellsworth, two sisters, Betty Richardson, and Fern (James) Gray, a brother-in-law, Jeff Potter, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, and a sister, Barbara Potter.

A graveside service will be held Monday, October 13, 2025, at 11:00 am in Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Houghton.
