Carol Ann (Laity) Mcniel

Fillmore---Carol Ann McNiel of Rochester and a former resident of Fillmore, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 in her home. She was born on December 19, 1933 in Roanoke, VA, a daughter of the late Edward and Zella Halstead Laity. She married Harold E. McNiel who predeceased her on July 15, 2010.

Carol was a member of the Houghton Wesleyan Church and the church choir, a former teacher at Fillmore Central School and was involved in the finance department at Houghton College. She loved to needle point and play Sudoku.

Surviving are her children, Julie (Dan) McCollister of Ithaca, Sue McNiel of Fillmore, Laura McNiel of Rochester, Edith McNiel (Tom Kreuzer) of Buffalo, Richard (Sharon) McNiel of Rochester, Marian (Bill) McNiel Simms of Rochester, four grandchildren, Ben, Alyson, Derek, Brandon, one brother, Edward (Betty) Laity of Atlanta, GA, a sister, Jean Holton of Chesapeake, VA and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may gather from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home 21 North Genesee Street, Fillmore. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Houghton Wesleyan Church . The Rev. Dr. Wesley Oden, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery , Houghton.
