Rushford --- Daniel Elmer Metcalf of 9183 Sandhill Road died Sunday, July 7, 2024, in the Houghton Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. He was born on May 17, 1938, in Buffalo, a son of the late Elmer and Luella Veazey Metcalf. On September 14, 1957, in Rushford he married Ruth Ellen Smith who survives.
Dan was a former employee of RG&E. He was a member of the former Rushford United Methodist Church and attended Centerville United Methodist Church, a member and former chief of the Rushford Fire Department, former Boy Scout leader for many years, a member of the Rushford Historical Society and a former board member for the Allegany County Fire Commissioner Board.
He loved hunting, collecting knives and his antique John Deere tractors. Dan also acted in the movie Ghost Lake which was filmed on Rushford Lake.
Surviving in addition to his wife are their children, Peggy (Dave) Armstrong, John Metcalf, Julie (Scott) Walter all of Rushford, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Todd Metcalf, a great-granddaughter, Kadence and a sister, Margaret Morris.
Family and friends may gather from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Balcom Beach Bible Church, formerly the Rushford United Methodist Church, where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Bob Schooley, pastor of the Centerville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in White cemetery, Rushford.
