David W. Freeman

Hume --- David W. Freeman Sr. of Hume and a recent resident of Englewood, FL passed away suddenly on July 14, 2016 in his home.

David was born on July 10, 1962 and was a lifelong area resident. He was self-employed carpenter, builder and “Mr. fix it” taking care of and helping anybody he could.

Survived by his mother, Ada Freeman, his sons, David W. Freeman Jr of Fillmore, Cody D. (Lisa) Freeman of Holland, his sisters, Sandy (Terry) Kelly of Fillmore, Sharon (Alden “Buck”) Steadman of Fillmore, several nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and friends, sweetheart Penny Hill, his best friend “Scooper” and his neighbors of the Claybed Road.

He was predeceased by his father, William Freeman, a brother, Donald Freeman and a great nephew Mason Steadman.

David was always up early fixing, building or working on something. Dave enjoyed mowing lawns and it wasn’t uncommon for him to mow all day long. “Work hard Play hard” was a motto he lived by. He took winter trips to the mountains snowmobiling with Scoop, kayaking and hunting with his boys, going to the Jetty with Penny and enjoying every drop of sunshine he could.

Dave’s pride and joy were his boys and anyone who chatted with him knows they are his world. He smiled more than anyone and laughed louder than everyone. His selflessness will never be forgotten.

Family and friends may gather from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee Street, Fillmore where a funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Joel Stroud, pastor of the Hume Baptist Church, will officiate. A celebration of David’s life will follow the funeral service at “The Pond”.
