Donald L. Rule

Freedom --- Donald L. Rule, 78, of Freedom, died Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in Mercy Hospital, Buffalo. He was born on August 5, 1946, in Warsaw, a son of the late Earl and Ruth Wilber Rule. On May 7, 1966, in Arcade he married Rebecca Wiedemann who survives.

Mr. Rule worked construction at his family business E.R. Rule and Sons. He also was a dairy farmer for 33 years and was currently raising beef cattle.

He enjoyed spending time on the farm with his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are their children, Jane (Don) Dabolt of Freedom, Dean (Katie) Rule of Arcade, Joan (Jennifer) O’Brien-Rule of Rochester, a son-in-law, Darrell Gilbert of Freedom, his grandchildren, Josh (Courtney) Dabolt, Ashlie (Dave) Dick, Kayla (Ryan) Haudricourt, Grant Gilbert, Ava Rule, Addison Rule, his great-grandchildren, Aria Dabolt, Kenzley Haudricourt, Layne Dabolt, Wrenlee Dick, Ruby Dabolt, his siblings, Dave (Linda) Rule of Arcade, Diane (Robert) Armstrong of Kane, PA, a brother-in-law, Mike (Peggy) Wiedemann of Arcade and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Gilbert, his in-laws, Richard and Marie Wiedemann and a nephew, Tom Rule.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
