Rushford

Rushford --- Eldyn G. Davies of 9173 Hardys Corners Road went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 31, 2023, in the Hart Comfort House, Wellsville. He was born on February 6, 1931, in Cuba, a son of the late David and Helen Gilbert Davies Jr. On June 23, 1959, he married Patricia Peckham who survives.

Eldyn was a graduate of Rushford Central School, class of 1950 and attended Alfred Agricultural College. He was the third generation to operate the family dairy farm in Rushford that his grandfather, David Davies, settled in 1912. Eldyn enjoyed studying family genealogy and traveled to Wales to meet his relatives there. At the time of his passing, Eldyn still owned the first tractor to ever work on the farm. He had completely restored it over the years. He was a member of the Genesee Valley Antique Tractor Club and enjoyed pulling his F20 and F30 Farmall tractors. Eldyn earned many awards with his dairy, including Conservation Farmer of the Year in 1972. He also enjoyed building and collecting many models of antique cars, trucks and tractors.

Eldyn started playing in the Rushford Town Band at 10 years old, accompanying his father who also played. He was proud of the fact that he had played baritone with the Windjammers of Sarasota, FL for several years.

Eldyn was a lifelong member of the Rushford United Methodist Church. He served as Rushford Town Councilman for 20 years and served on the Rushford Labor Day Committee.

Surviving in addition to his wife are their sons, Richard Davies of Palm Harbor, FL, Peter Davies of Rushford, John (Dooder) Davies of New Hudson, a grandson, Kieffer Davies of Caneadea, a sister, Dorothy (Duane) Kofahl of Orlando, FL and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Jeanette Kofahl.
