Fillmore --- Gary John Gombos of Fillmore and a former resident of Mudville passed away on September 16, 2026, at Suzanne's Comfort Home in Perry. He was born on October 26, 1951, in Buffalo, a son of the late Stephen and Edna Austic Gombos. On August 14, 1971, Gary married Katherine Joan Fox, who predeceased him on September 10, 2005

Gary lived a life shaped by hard work, practical skill, and the simple joys that brought him close to the people he loved. He worked as an iron worker, welder, mechanic, and millwright for several area businesses, bringing dedication and steady hands to each role.

Outside of work, he enjoyed tinkering, watching the Buffalo Bills, and spending time in the outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting with friends and family, and those times shared in the woods and on the water will remain treasured memories.

Gary is survived by his children, Dawn Gombos, Patricia Gombos both of Buffalo, and Adam Gombos of Fillmore. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jasmine, Hunter, Alyssa, Shana, and Skylar, as well as his great-grandchildren, Isabella, Alyana, Everleigh, and Seonie. He is also survived by his brother Stephen “Skip” Gombos of Buffalo; his sister Gail (Joseph) Smith of Hamburg; his brother Greg (Cathy) Gombos of Springville and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Gombos and his sister-in-law, Linda Gombos

A family gathering will be held at a later date.
