Gertrude J. Hall

Caneadea --- Gertrude J. Hall of 8935 Route 19 died Friday, August 2, 2024, in the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Mt. Morris. She was born on November 8, 1937, in Ischua. She married Donald Hall Sr. who predeceased her in 2003.

Gertrude was an avid bowler and seamstress and at one time had an in-home craft store where she would make doll clothing and would send homemade clothes to Africa. She also enjoyed classic country music, researching history, embroidering and her cats and dogs but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren which would sometimes involve playing computer games with them and photography.

She was the former Town of Caneadea Historian, a founding member of the Caneadea Boosters, a former member of the Caneadea Fire Department, a member of the Caneadea United Methodist Church, a former waitress and cook for Kipps Restaurant in Houghton, a former CNA for the Houghton Nursing Home and a former homecare nurse.

Surviving are her children, Ronald (Yosi) Hall of Burlington, NC, Julia “Patsy” George of Andover, Sarah (Forrest) Card of Allegany, Donna Hopkins of St. Mary’s, GA, Tim (Kelly) Morgan of Oakland, FL, Jackie (Rick) Slack of Aiken, SC, Dennis (Julie) Hall of Fillmore, 31 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was predeceased by three sons, Donald “Bobby” Hall, Steven Hall, infant Frederick Hall and a daughter, Marguerite Brown.

Family and friends may gather from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee Street, Fillmore where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Rev. James Stevens, pastor of the Caneadea United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Caneadea Cemetery, Caneadea.
