James E. Derrenbacher

Dalton --- James E. Derrenbacher of 1661 State Route 70 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 31, 2021 in his home. He was born on October 22, 1943 in Rochester, a son of the late George and Gertrude Foster Derrenbacher. He married Carol Duryea who predeceased him on January 11, 1995. On October 12, 1996 in Houghton Wesleyan Church he married Gwendolyn Geens, who survives.

Jim was a retired and devoted dairy farmer, an avid bird watcher, animal lover, especially dogs, cats and horses. In his retirement he enjoyed mowing his lawn and spending time with his family.

He attended Oakland Wesleyan Church and was a current member of the Farm Bureau.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Dan (Wendy) Derrenbacher of Hunt, Rhonda (Dave) Englerth of LeRoy, Anne (Joe) Chesbro of Livonia, Deborah (Dave) Conrad of Palmyra, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first wife and parents he was predeceased by two infant brothers, an infant sister and a sister, Joanne Tallman.

Family and friends may gather from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, November 4, 2021 and from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Oakland Wesleyan Church where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Pastor Paul Palmer will officiate. Burial will be in Hunt’s Hollow Cemetery, Hunt.
