Jean Marguerite Rathbun

Castile---Jean Marguerite Rathbun of 39 Park Road West, and a former resident of Portageville, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 in her home. She was born on January 7, 1928 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late James and Edna Belcher Gratton. She married Alvin Henry Rathbun who predeceased her on December 19, 1997.

Jean was a former employee of the Houghton Nursing Home, now the Absolut at Houghton.  She loved knitting, embroidering, and she had an interest in Civil War history.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel (Laura) Rathbun of Chaffee, Darrel (Carol) Rathbun of Portageville, two daughters, Donna Merrill of Brockport, Diane (Richard) Clouse of Fillmore, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a brother, John Gratton of Freedom and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Rathbun, a brother, James Gratton and a sister, Joan McClurg.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Portageville Cemetery with Joel Stroud, pastor of the Hume Baptist Church officiating.
