Hunt --- Kenneth Frederick Holly, 88, of 10174 Pennycook Road went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 23, 2024, in the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Mt. Morris. He was born on October 15, 1935, in Portage, a son of the late Fred and Marjorie Hussong Holly. He was married to his beloved wife Melva, who predeceased him on May 10, 2024.

Ken was a graduate of Nunda High School, class of 1954, and a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1958 to 1960. During his service he was stationed in Korea for 13 months. He was an active member of the Nunda VFW post 8961 and was a former Post Commander.

Ken maintained a small family farm and was employed by the Town of Portage Highway Department, later he delivered concrete for Cipriano Brothers and then returned to the Town of Portage where he served as Highway Superintendent until his retirement. After his retirement he remained active with both the Livingston and Wyoming County Highway Superintendents Associations.

In 2000 he was named Citizen of the Millennium for the Town of Portage and in 2006 he was named Senior Citizen of the Year for Livingston County.

He was a member of the Nunda United Methodist Church and a 35-year member of the Genesee Falls Fire Company.

Ken enjoyed county fairs and tractor pulls and supported numerous community events and dinners. Most of all he enjoyed family gatherings, birthdays and holidays where he would play a game or two of euchre.

Surviving are his daughters Lynne (Clair) Lawson and Leigh Grosse both of Dalton, a son, Oswaldo Palomares, six grandchildren, Lindsay (Andy Sanford) Therrien, Andrew Lawson, Brandon (Ashely) Lawson, Ryan (Chelsea Kowalik) Grosse, Kyle (Olivia Lewis) Grosse, Hunter (Natalie) Grosse, five great-grandchildren, Wesley, Nolan, Rowan, Holly, Nora and Melva’s children, Brian, Tina, Elaine, Penny and their children.

In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a brother, Burdette Holly.

Family and friends may gather from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the Nunda United Methodist Church, 30 East St, Nunda where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Carmen Vianese will officiate. Burial with military honors accorded by the Nunda American Legion Post 33 will be in Pennycook Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at 4:00 pm at the Nunda VFW Post 8961, 32 State Street, Nunda.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee Street, Fillmore.
