Lima --- Michael G. Rees, of Fort Worth, TX, formerly of Lima, passed away unexpectedly, November 6, 2024. He was born on December 22, 1964, in Warsaw, a son of the late Richard and Betty Rees. On August 24, 1991, in the Town of Livonia, he married the love of his life, Bridgette Joslyn who survives.
Michael was a retired motor vehicle inspector for the NYS Department of Transportation, where he was employed for over 30 years. Michael was a talented craftsman, builder, and mechanic who took pride in his work. He, along with his father, built his family’s Lima home where they resided for over 30 years.
Michael enjoyed working with his hands, maintaining his home and lawn, and helping his children with anything and everything. He loved motorcycle rides with his wife, country music, the Buffalo Bills, and as a new Texan he became a fan of the Rangers.
He enjoyed traveling with his family and got to experience many places he never imagined he would, including snowmobiling on the Anheuser-Busch property in Colorado, visiting Alcatraz Prison in San Francisco and touring the historic landmarks in London.
Michael was a kind, honorable, loyal, and strong man who, above all, loved his family. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and was quick to offer a helping hand, no ask too large. He was a selfless and generous man who took care of others.
Surviving in addition to his wife are their children, Nicholas (Will Prigge) Rees of New York, NY and Chelsey (Daniel) Hartnett of Dallas, TX, his granddaughter Sloane Hartnett, his siblings Susan (Bill) Stevens of Caledonia, Sylvia Smith of Avon, Deborah Winchip of Fillmore, Randy (Vicki) Rees of Fillmore, and his brother-in-law John (Jen Barnhart) Joslyn of Restof, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Frederic "Rick" Winchip, Jr. and Aaron Smith.
Family and friends may gather from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee Street, Fillmore where a funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm. Craig Buelow, pastor of the Northern KonXions United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial to immediately follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Fillmore.
