Obituary

Hume ---Patricia A. Sandford Griffin Reilly, a former resident of Hume, passed away suddenly on December 25, 2025, in St. Petersburg, FL. She was born May 2, 1934, in Fillmore, to Etta and Cleland Sandford.

Pat was a graduate of Fillmore Central School and later completed her nursing degree from the University of Rochester in 1955.

Pat married the love of her life, Eugene Griffin, in 1956. They raised their four children—Michael, Carol, Lawrence, and Diane—in their home in Hume. Pat was the beloved school nurse at Fillmore Central School for 20 years. She cared for students and teachers like they were family. Her smile, kind heart, and infectious (sometimes mischievous) laugh were loved by all.

Pat was very involved in the community and a member of the William P Brooks Hose Co Auxiliary. She was also a class advisor for several graduating classes at Fillmore Central School. Everyone loved “Mrs. Griffin”!

After Eugene’s untimely death in 1986, Pat moved to Florida to be closer to her mother and brother. She was a vibrant member of the Lake Alfred, FL community for many years, where she met and married Edward Reilly, who predeceased her.

Pat loved golfing, games of all kinds, cooking, baking, boating, dancing, reading, and entertaining. She loved life and loved her family more than anything. She made friends everywhere she went, and they often became friends for life. A more generous, kind, and compassionate soul would be very hard to find.

Pat leaves behind her son Michael (Patricia) Griffin of Stafford, VA; Carol (Gina) Griffin of Gulfport, FL; Lawrence (Rebecca) Griffin of Palmetto, FL; and Diane Griffin of Sarasota, FL. Pat has five grandchildren: Sean (Samantha) Griffin of Belleville, IL; Brittany Griffin of Dallas, TX; Joshua Griffin of Arlington, VA; Patrick Griffin of Stafford, VA; and Gracie Griffin of Stafford, VA. She has one great-grandchild, Amelia. Pat’s children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter were her world.

Visitation and remembrance services will be held at Kopler-Williams Funeral Home in Fillmore on June 12 and 13, 2026, with interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Fillmore. Details will be posted at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in honor of Pat to the William P. Brooks Hose Co. of Fillmore or St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church of Fillmore.
