Fillmore --- Paul Merritt Miller of 10850 Route 19A passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 in Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. He was born on June 9, 1952 in Hume, a son of Alvin “Dodd” and Olive “Polly” Cockle Miller. On July 10, 1971 he married Rondus Perry who survives.

Paul was a former employee of the Highway Department for the Town of Hume serving from 1982 until 2001. During his employment he served as Highway Superintendent from 1989 to 2001. Afterward he went on to work for Southern Tier West (2001-2006) and Suit-Kote (2006-2017) until his retirement in 2017.

He loved tinkering with his numerous amount of gadgets, going hunting, fishing, golfing and riding his motorcycle. Paul was also an avid reader and researcher, he enjoyed playing the guitar but most of all he loved spending time with friends and family.

Paul also was involved in the Fillmore Little League and was instrumental in the creation of the 16 to 18 year old league and was active in the Boy Scouts with his two sons.

Surviving in addition to his mother and his wife are their children, Daniel (Anna) Miller of Iowa, Kyle Miller of North Carolina, Erin (Adam) Smith of Perry, four grandchildren, Merritt Smith, Lauren Smith, Alexandria (Jacob) Helms, Austin Miller, two great-grandsons, Elijah Helms and Easton Helms, a sister, Paula Jones of Rossburg, his mother-in-law, Bernice Perry of Caneadea, his sister-in-law, Loriene Fuller of Caneadea, two brothers-in-law, Lyall (Becky) Perry of Georgia, Kevin (Peggy) Perry of Java Village and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father he was predeceased by three brothers-in-law, Peter Fuller on January 30, 2022, Roger Jones on November 6, 2021, David Perry and his notorious bad joke telling father-in-law, Dewey Perry on April 26, 2020.

Family and friends may gather from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee Street, Fillmore where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 11:00 am. Pastor Sam Wolcott will officiate. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 starting at 2:00 pm and will be at 2919 Silver Lake Road, Perry.  Burial will be in Wiscoy Cemetery, Wiscoy.
