Phillip Brooks Main

Hume

Hume --- Phillip Brooks Main, 88, a resident of Hume passed away August 3, 2022 in the Houghton Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. He was born on November 17, 1933 in Fillmore, a son of the late Donald and Josephine Russell Main. He married Marilyn Hughes who survives.

Phil was raised on a dairy farm and graduated from Fillmore Central School, class of 1952. Afterward he went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957 at the Key West Naval Station in Florida.

Phil was a lifetime member of the American Legion, post commander for D. Victor Thomas Post 1158 of Fillmore and a trustee of the Wide Awake Club Library board for 9 years, serving as president for 5 of those years.  He volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels and driving seniors to appointments.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his brothers, Russell (Catherine) Main and Stephen Main, and a sister, Linda (William) Franz.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 11:00 am in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fillmore. Paul Shea, assistant pastor at the Houghton Wesleyan Church, will officiate.
