Portageville --- Ronald P. VanName of 7196 Tenefly Road passed away on November 23, 2023, in the Houghton Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. He was born on November 5, 1944, in Fillmore, a son of the late Percy VanName and Madeline Sweet.
Ron was a veteran of the United States Army and a milk truck driver for Remington’s for 43 years. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and hunter. Ron enjoyed watching his westerns, studying history, especially military history and chicken barbecues.
Surviving are his children, Dione (Steve) Kish of Rushford, Ronald VanName of Bourbon, Missouri, Tammy (Ken) Myers of Victor, Kim (Jarett) Bull of Machias, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, his siblings, Roger (Marlene) Beil of Pavilion, Linda (James) Armison of Fillmore, Robert (Rebecca) Beil of Fillmore, Wendy Wallace of Perry, James (Rebecca) Beil of Jackson, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Donna Durfee, a brother, Gary VanName, an infant sister, Valorie Beil and his stepfather, Lyle Beil. His son, Justin James passed away on November 24, 2023.
Family and friends may gather from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee Street, Fillmore where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Ben Schultz, pastor of Family Life Church in Warsaw, will officiate. Burial will be in Alger Cemetery.
