St. Joe, Indiana --- Scott M. Bushnell, age 70, of St. Joe, Indiana died on Sunday, September 10, 2017 of Lewy Body disease. Born in Poughkeepsie, New York on February 12, 1947 to John and Alice Bushnell. He married Barbara Weir, a former resident of Belfast, who survives.
He began his career as a sports writer for the Poughkeepsie Journal. He continued as a reporter, sports writer, and news editor in the Connecticut bureau of the Associated Press. He was Director of Media Relations for The Travelers and Lincoln National Corporation. He was an historian & baseball devotee. He authored several books & essays.
He lived in Saint Joe, Indiana for almost 30 years. He was a firm believer in faith and community. He was an active member and Elder of the Auburn Presbyterian Church and a past president of two Indiana Lions Clubs. He was adored by and devoted to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, two sons, Fitz Bushnell of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sean (Tasha) Bushnell of Fort Wayne, Indiana, two granddaughters, Caitlyn and Madison, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana, a sister, Michelle (Coble) of Leonardo, New Jersey and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Belfast.
