Houghton ---Terry Lynn Ayers, née Teuber, whose life was a testament to dedicated service and unwavering devotion, passed away on May 31, 2026, in her home. Born on January 15, 1950, in East Northport, Long Island, she blossomed into a woman whose heart was deeply committed to her community, her family, and her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Terry’s journey of compassion and care was marked by her significant contributions as a registered nurse. After earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the esteemed Columbia University, she applied her knowledge and serene resolve in the practice of nursing at Dr. Schierer’s office in Houghton. Her professional life was distinguished not only by her excellence in healthcare but also by the kindness and comfort she extended to those she served.

A member of the Houghton Wesleyan Church, Terry’s faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She was a devoted counselor for Celebrate Recovery at the church, where she offered guidance and solace to those navigating life’s challenges. Her love for her Savior inspired a life dedicated to serving others—a mission she embraced with all her being.

Terry’s passions extended beyond her vocation and faith. She delighted in the simple joys of gardening, quilting, and cooking, activities that reflected her patience, creativity, and nurturing spirit. Yet, perhaps nothing brought her greater happiness than the time spent with her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her later years.

Terry leaves behind a profound legacy of faith, love, and service. Her essence, forever intertwined with her deep love for Jesus Christ and her unyielding commitment to serving others, remains an enduring beacon for all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and eternally cherished.

Her family was the center of her earthly joy. She shared over five decades of marriage with her husband, Eugene Ayers, whom she married on May 27, 1971, at Oakland Wesleyan Church. Together, they built a loving home and raised three daughters: Heather Lynn (Jeremy) Templeton, Robin (Ryan) Cool, both residing in Houghton, and Amy (Aaron) Spicer of Cicero, Indiana. Her legacy endures through her eight treasured grandchildren: Clayton, Sophia, Brooklynn, Mason, Jackson, Samuel, Tucker, and Judah. The warmth of her affection also embraced several nieces and nephews, each touched by her kindness.

She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Florence Prittie Teuber, and a brother, Leonard Harvey.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at 3:30 pm at the Houghton Wesleyan Church, located at 9712 New York 19, Houghton, NY 14744. Rev. David Huizenga will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Houghton.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee Street, Fillmore.
