William J Murray

North Dansville --- William J. Murray of 7 Valley View Court died Sunday, March 28, 2021 in Noyes Memorial Hospital, Dansville. He was born on June 5, 1949 in Rochester, a son of the late Kenneth and Bernice Owsiak Murray. On September 9, 1989 he married Janet Hallock who survives.

Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a boiler operator on the USS Coral Seas during the Vietnam War. Afterward he became a licensed boiler operator for several area companies including Kodak and Prestolite. Then he became employed with Groveland State Prison until his retirement in 2013.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed racing on figure eight tracks.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Dianna (David) DePriest of Geneseo, Michael (Stacy) Hayhurst of Atlanta, four grandchildren, Justin Peace, Makenzie Peace, Josh Ayers, Emily Hayhurst, three greatgrandchildren, Aubrille Peace, Aziza Peace, Andre Peace, a brother in law, Wayne (Sharon) Hallock of Fillmore, a sister in law, Beverly DeVore of Wellsville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Philip William Murray.

A private funeral service will be held at Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee Street, Fillmore. Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery, Fillmore.
