Wilma Jeanne Steadman Sylor

Fillmore --- Wilma Jeanne Steadman Sylor of 11031 Dugway Road, died Monday, June 9, 2014 in Olean General Hospital. She was born on August 6, 1926 in the Town of Allen, a daughter of the late Clarence Steadman and Eleanor Ross. On December 24, 1945 in Starke, FL she married Norbert Sylor who survives.

She was a graduate of Fillmore Central School and a member of Fillmore American Legion Auxiliary, the Short Tract United Methodist Church, the Wide Awake Library Club, and Gideon’s International Allegany Camp Auxiliary.

For many years she was the 4-H leader in Fillmore and Program aid in Wyoming County for many years. Wilma also taught cake decorating, candy making, knitting and sewing. In 1988 she retired as kitchen manager at Camp Asbury after 19 years.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four daughters, Claudia (Joe) Honsberger of Goodyear, AZ, Carolyn (Thomas) Wrinn of Hamburg, Audrey (Gerard) Jurczynski of Schenectady, Kathleen Randall of Broad Brook, CT, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters, Dorothea Somogyi of Ulysses. Pa., Patricia (Carl) Holmes of Cuba, Althea Martin of Delevan and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Ruth E. Wendland, Marjorie Kozlowski, and Virginia Steadman.

Family and friends may gather from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 North Genesee Street, Fillmore. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Epworth Hall at Silver Lake Institute. Rev. James Stevens, pastor of Dansville United Methodist Church, will officiate. A gathering for fellowship will follow the service in the Koinonia Inn at Asbury Camp. Burial will be in Short Tract Cemetery, Short Tract.
