Dr. Joseph “Sonny” Angelo L’Annunziata Jr.

Caneadea --- Dr. Joseph “Sonny” Angelo L’Annunziata, Jr. a former resident of Springfield, MA, Albany and Caneadea entered into eternal rest on January 4, 2021 at the Houghton Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. He was born on April 17, 1943 in Springfield, MA, the beloved son of the late Joseph L’Annunziata Sr. and Evangelia Votze L’Annunziata. 

Dr. L’Annunziata was a radiologist, working locum tenens at Albany Medical Center and Samaritan Hospital in Troy and Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville while prioritizing the care of his ailing parents in Massachusetts for over twenty years. 

He was an avid and talented fisherman and skier.  He enjoyed televised sports and especially watching the Buffalo Bills and Providence College basketball, his alma mater.

Joe was fiercely dedicated to his family, rarely missing a holiday, baptism, or birthday, driving long distances through the snowy Berkshires to attend gatherings.  We cherish the memories of these special times together; they are the legacy he leaves to those he loved.

Beloved big brother of Elaine Burke of Westfield, MA and Maria L’Annunziata of Leominster, MA.  Dear Godfather and uncle to Sheila, Tony, Jeremy, Neal, Marnie Molly, Sean and Anna and Annie R and companion and trusted friend to many including Cloe, his 4- legged therapist of 17 years.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Paul L’Annunziata on February 14, 2018.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee Street, Fillmore. 

Memorials if desired to: Meals on Wheels, SPCA of Allegany County or the Rushford Lake Fund in his name.

Heartfelt thanks to the kind staff at the Houghton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Houghton.  They comforted Joe and his family in their darkest hours.
