Hunt---Grant D. Gross of 5121 Sonnleitner Road, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 25, 2023 in his daughter’s home. He was born on April 13, 1919 in Gainesville, a son of the late Benjamin and Lottie Bowen Gross. On August 12, 1942 he married Mildred F. Chase who predeceased him on December 8, 2011.
Grant was a former salesman for Carmichael and Reed Monument Co. in Warsaw. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, farming, scratch-off lottery tickets and most of all he enjoyed eating Chester Cheese Puffs.
Grant was living with Carol and Dennis for the past 11 years in their home, which became his home, which was filled with the love and wonderful care they both gave him. He always called Carol his angel and without her he said he wouldn’t have made it to 103! Grant was grateful for her help right up to the end.
He loved his whole family so much and his whole world was seeing his grandchildren, especially his great-grandchildren. His last wish was getting to see his last great-granddaughter, Brayley Boyd, born on December 5, 2022 and making sure his granddaughter Tara was ok. He didn’t want to talk about 104! Grant was such an amazing man and so many memories of love!
The family would like to say a special thanks to Sally Julliano and Becky Hutton for helping with his care for the past 2 ½ years. There was so much love from the both of them and they were the two angels that helped take him home.
Surviving are his children, Linda Botsford of Middletown, Delaware, Donald (Lynn) Gross of Freedom, Carol Thomas (Dennis Thomas) of Fillmore, ten grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, including a great-grandson Grant Swift name after him, four step-grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren, a niece and three nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by his siblings, Justice Gross, Harriett Brigham, Vera Olin, Richard Gross and a son-in-law, Douglas Botsford.
Family and friends may gather on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee Street, Fillmore where a funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
