Short Tract --- Judith Anne VanOstrand, a former resident of Short Tract, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 6, 2024 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. She was born on June 14, 1940, in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Walter Scanlon and Janet Markland. For 60 years she was married to Robert VanOstrand who predeceased her on June 26, 2022.
Judy was a member of the former Friends in Christ United Methodist Church, a member of the Fillmore American Legion Auxiliary and the Chili VFW Auxiliary.
She loved singing and was part of several singing groups including the church choir and her community chorus. Judy also enjoyed crafting, reading and watching General Hospital.
Surviving are her children, Andrew VanOstrand of Fillmore, Cynthia Blair of North Chili, James VanOstrand of Seneca Falls, Anne (Tony) Matela of Spencerport, her grandchildren, Jesse, Heather, Jennie and Anthony, three brothers, Ronald (Linda) Scanlon of Alabama, Michael Scanlon of Syracuse, Carl (Judy) Scanlon of Syracuse and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and her parents she was predeceased by brother, Francis Scanlon and two infants.
A graveside service with the Fillmore American Legion Auxiliary honors will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11:00 am in Short Tract Cemetery. Craig Buelow, pastor of Northern KonXions United Methodist Church, will officiate. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 3:00 pm in the First Presbyterian Church of Chili. Pastor Brandi Wooten will officiate.
