Hume---Marilyn B. Main, 82, of Hume passed away November 26, 2022 in Wyoming County Community Hospital. Marilyn was born December 10, 1939 in Buffalo to the late Clifford D. and Marie A. Hoffman Hughes. She married Phillip Main, who predeceased her in August.
Marilyn grew up and worked in Buffalo and later Rochester before moving to Hume.
She was active in the community helping in her local church—most recently Houghton Wesleyan, where she was a member. She volunteered in the Wide Awake Club and church libraries, delivered Meals on Wheels, and collected funds and eyeglasses for Dr. Storer Emmett to help the needy in Haiti. Marilyn also traveled with a church group to Nome, Alaska to help with a Vacation Bible School one summer.
Marilyn is survived by a brother, John (Jean) Hughes, two brothers-in-law, Russell (Catherine) Main and Stephen Main, a sister-in-law, Linda (William) Franz, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Rita M. (Daniel) Brown.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at 11am at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Fillmore. Cindy Oden, assistant pastor, Houghton Wesleyan Church, will officiate.
