Fillmore --- Mary E. Ricketts a former resident of Prospect Street died Monday, May 17, 2021 in her home in Fairport. She was born on May 18, 1933 in Hume, a daughter of the late N. Leslie and Florence Bean Doud. On August 4, 1951 she married Calvin R. Ricketts who predeceased her on March 31, 2017.
Mary was the valedictorian of Fillmore Central School for the class of 1951 and a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Fillmore. She was a member of the home bureau, homemakers and would make frequent trips to the Wide Awake Club Library.
She loved to collect antiques but most of all she enjoyed doing different arts and crafts. Mary had just concluded making COVID masks for charity and sewing care bears for Golisano’s Children’s Hospital. Mary also loved to travel. She and Cal would travel to Arizona for the winter months and they also visited all 50 States and multiple countries.
Surviving are two sons, Barry (Karen) Ricketts of Hilton, Douglas (Eileen) Ricketts of Livonia, three daughters, Denise (John) Bean-White of California, Lori (Steven Barry) Williams of Rochester, Debra of Arizona, 12 grandchildren, a brother, Menzer (Rena) Doud of Utica and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may gather from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee Street, Fillmore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, Fillmore. Fr. Dennis JJ Mancuso will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fillmore.
