Fillmore --- Neil Allen VanName, 65, a resident of Waynesboro, VA and a former resident of Fillmore died Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his home. He was born September 21, 1950 in Fillmore, a son of Kenneth and Bernice Cockle Van Name.
He was a loving husband and father. Neil was an avid athlete and sportsman. He loved to take care of people and was the rock in which his family and friends depended on.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his loving wife of 41 years, Sharon E. Van Name; their children, Patty (Mike) Jackson, Tara (David Holsinger) Naughton Roberts, Jason R. (Amanda) Naughton, Kathryn (Colin) Meissner; eight grandchildren, Ashley Campbell, Tyler Holsinger, Cody Alford, Taylor Bowman, Alexis Sullivan, Rylee Jackson, Gayle Naughton, and Kenzie Jackson; a great-granddaughter, Jane Alford; brothers, Bernard (Lynn) Van Name, Jeffrey Shaver; and a sister, Chita (Brian) Boyce.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his step-father, Albert Shaver.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 North Genesee Street, Fillmore. Joel Stroud, pastor of the Hume Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fillmore.
