Fillmore --- Norbert Frank Sylor, a former resident of Fillmore, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in Litchfield Park, AZ. He was born on September 7, 1926 in Short Tract, a son of the late Wayne and Gladys Smith Sylor. He married Wilma Steadman who predeceased him on June 9, 2014.
Norb was veteran of World War II serving from 1945 to 1946 in the United States Army, member of the Short Tract United Methodist Church, D. Victor Thomas American Legion Post 1155 of Fillmore, the United Methodist Men and the Gideons International.
He enjoyed working and serving his Lord on Missionary Projects, 4-H Clubs, Horse Shows, Special Deputy with the Wyoming County Sheriff, youth groups and all the campers, pastors and guests who came to “Camp Asbury” where he was manager for nearly 20 years.
Surviving are his daughters, Claudia J. (Joe) Honsberger of Goodyear, AZ, Carolyn S. (Thomas III) Wrinn of Hamburg, Audrey S. (Gerard) Jurczynski of Schenectady and Kathleen E. Randall of Broad Brook, CT; his grandchildren, Heather Honsberger, Brian Honsberger, Thomas Wrinn IV, Jonathan Wrinn, Peter Jurcynski, Michael Jurcynski, Adam Jurczynski, Sarah Punturiero, Wesley Randall and Emily DeSantis; 18 great-grandchildren, a sister, Bernice Perry of Caneadea and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Wayne Sylor Jr and Adelbert Sylor.
A private graveside service will be held in Short Tract Cemetery. Pastor James Stevens will officiate. Friends and guests are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Asbury Retreat Center (Koinonia), 16 Lakeside Ave, Silver Lake, NY.
