Paul Pettit Obituary

Fillmore --- Paul R. Pettit of 29 Prospect Street went to his eternal home with Jesus on Thursday, March 30, 2023 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 23, 1940 in Olean, a son of the late Donald and Doris Keller Pettit.

Paul married the love of his life, Patricia M. Evans on February 11, 1961 in St. Mark’s Church, Rushford. The love they had for each other was truly magical and once in a lifetime. Taking care of her was always his priority. Their love was as strong on his last day as it was on the day they met.

The family they built together was everything to Paul. He was the most selfless, loving husband, father, grandfather and felt so much joy in helping everyone. His children and grandchildren will always remember his constant presence on the sidelines.

Paul worked for a short time at Cuba Cheese, the Town of Rushford and at Fisher Price before starting a career at RG&E in 1966. He started as a grounds man and was promoted several times and ended his career as senior engineer when he retired in 1994. Paul was very passionate about planning and investing. He would often be found giving advice to his co-workers.

After his retirement from RG&E, Paul wasn’t ready to leave the workforce. He became a licensed real estate agent and sold real estate for eight years as well as working at Roth’s Repair in Fillmore.

He was known not only to his family but to the community as a talented craftsman, He spent countless hours in his workshop building or fixing anything and everything. Many family members and friends have one of Paul’s handcrafted clocks displayed in their homes.

Some of Paul’s favorite things were hot morning coffees with Pat, playing cards with his grandkids, watching the Buffalo Bills while snacking on cheese balls, sharing his budget template with all who would listen, taking pictures at every family event with his Kodak camera around his neck and the occasional Yukon or Manhattan with cherries that he would give to Pat.

Surviving in addition to his beloved wife are their children, Dennis (Mary Anne) Pettit of Rochester, Randy (Laura) Pettit of Apopka, FL, Brenda (William) Nolan of Fillmore, his grandchildren, Kenden Pettit, Cameron (Elena) Pettit, Kelsie (Thomas) Nolan Affleck, Brett (Cristina) Pettit, Dylan Pettit, Tanner Pettit, Abbey Pettit, his siblings, Linda Rusk, James (Kathleen) Pettit of Cuba, Robert (Mona) Pettit of Cuba, David (Ellyn) Pettit of Mallory, a great-grandson, Ford Pettit and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Willis Pettit and Alton Pettit.
