Castile --- Shirley J. McKurth Rissinger, a former resident of Castile, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility, Warsaw. She was born on May 31, 1935 in Lenoir City, TN, a daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Belle McManis Jenkins. She married Charles Rissinger who predeceased her on August 18, 2019.
Shirley was a graduate of Lenoir City High School in Tennessee. After she graduated from high school she went to work for the FBI under the direction of J. Edgar Hoover.
Later she moved to Western New York and began working for Lyle A. Bliss Insurance in Fillmore followed by Goff Agency in Castile and she completed her career in insurance with Hart’s Insurance in Perry.
She enjoyed golfing, scrapbooking, traveling, reading and most of all her family. Shirley was an avid sports fan of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and the Atlanta Braves but her true sports passion was the bright orange of the Tennessee Volunteers.
Surviving are her children, Gregory (Deborah) McKurth of Fillmore, Thomas McKurth of Portageville, Sharon (Chris) Volrath of Bowie, MD, Jennifer (Mark) Tompkins of Lousville, KY, Scott (Debra) Rissinger of Gainesville, Carrie Rissinger of Rochester, her grandchildren, Daryl (Julie) McKurth, David McKurth, Max W. Neugebauer, Annie Belle L. Neugebauer, Alexandra Tompkins, Victoria Tompkins, Zane Tompkins, Samantha Tompkins, Wesley Rissinger, Linsey Rissinger, her great-grandchildren, Scarlett McKurth, Stella McKurth, a brother, Buddy F. Jenkins of Myrtle Beach, SC and many adoring nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by nine siblings, Martha Frances, Gladys Marie, William Robert, Eva Rose, Nellie Irene, Roy Lee, Anna Gertrude, Lora McKinley and Gilbert Morrison.
Family and friends may gather from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 14, 2022 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N Genesee Street, Fillmore where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Bob Schooley, pastor of the Centerville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Gainesville.
