***UPDATED/CHANGED SERVICE DETAILS (06/23/2021)***
Fillmore --- Stephen A. Potter of 11813 Armison Road went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 1, 2021 in his home. He was born on September 17, 1934 in Gouldsboro, Maine, a son of the late George Edward and Myrtle Inez Torrey Potter. On June 14, 1969 he married Janet Kay Wright who survives.
Steve moved to New York at the age of 13 and graduated from Fillmore Central School, class of 1953. After graduating he served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959.
He was a former employee of the Kittinger Company for 19 years making Prince-of-Ease Recliners. He later went on to work as a carpenter for numerous construction companies where he helped build bridges for the Southern Tier Expressway, different projects in Rochester and numerous projects around Western New York. He also was an all-around handyman working on roofs, cement work and all types of carpentry jobs. Steve enjoyed being busy.
Steve loved his home, enjoyed taking care of his lawns, his gardens, plowing snow and cutting/splitting wood. He had special feeling for animals including pigs, ducks, chickens, cats, horses and dogs. His favorite dog, who predeceased him, was Mia, an American Standard Bulldog and his dog, Bella, was with him when he passed.
Our favorite memories include; Potter Days and Potter Nights, campfires, bonfires, driving every machine and watching the younger generations chasing each other with four-wheelers, garden tractors, go-karts, dirt bikes, in the winter months, snowmobiles, garden tractors with snow discs in tow and snow ball fights.
Steve will be sorely missed by all who really knew him; but we have wonderful memories to cherish and hold in our hearts.
